Mission & Vision

We're on a Mission from God

The five fold mission of the church is based on the Great Commandment and the Great Commission

The Great Commandment: Matthew 22:37-3937

WORSHIP “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment."

SERVICE ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
The Great Commission: Matthew 28:19-20

EVANGELISM "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,"

FELLOWSHIP "baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

DISCIPLESHIP "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;"

The Five Purposes of the Church

Worship

Honor God.
God alone is worthy of all praise and adoration. He is to be publicly lifted up by all believers individually and when gathering together.
True worship is in Spirit and Truth.

DIscipleship

Seek Truth.
Christians are to be intentional students of Jesus. Biblical teaching is the catalyst for understanding and following Christ. Spiritual maturity is evident in Belief and Behavior.

Fellowship

Bring Friends.
The Church is the body of Christ. Diverse individuals form one unified body, with Jesus as the head. Everything in life is Better Together.

Service

Do Good.
Jesus went to great lengths to help the lost and the hurting. Christians are to be known by how they care for believers, unbelievers, and even their enemies. Love is an Action.

Evangelism

Preach Jesus.
The only way to restore a relationship with God the Father is through faith in the Son. Those  transformed by Him have a duty to tell others. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

God Shaped our Vision

Second Chance Baptist Church is to accomplish this Mission in the 21st Century, from North Texas, with a specific group of believers working together as one. The way God has shaped us gives clarity for our Vision and plan of action.

God has shaped and positioned Second Chance to...
Go to the dark places and bring light those lost in pain and addiction. Long ago, God lead us to this ministry and He has blessed it ever since, and many of our congregation have been redeemed from a life of destruction.
-Our Vision is to faithfully continue to go and find those that are lost in the streets, to provide and facilitate a path to Recovery, and above all, to preach Jesus as the one and only, Higher Power.

Boldly teach the Truth of Scripture while the culture is lost in relativism. While information assaults us like a tide wave, the ability to discern truth has vanished. Modern culture is once again hostile to the teaching of scripture.
-Our Vision is to boldly teach God's Word skillfully and without fear of popular opinion, so the Saints are well equipped to defend the faith, and as a shining beacon for those starving for truth.

Courageously develop gifts in each individual so they can identify and answer God's Calling in their life. Every Christian has a unique purpose in the Kingdom, but few have the courage or willingness to realize their potential.
-Our Vision is to encourage and equip individuals to passionately pursue God's purpose by intentionally developing and using their gifts and experiences for His glory.

Go to the dark places

Luke 4:18-19
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Boldly teach Truth

Ephesians 6:14-17
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Courageously Develop Gifts

1 Chronicles 28:20
And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
